The Paramount Ruler of Otuan Federated Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, HRH, Christopher Nana-Okoto Okoto, has called for thorough investigation into the alleged improvised explosive device IED, incident at the State Secretariat Complex, in Yenagoa.
Okono, who is the Akama VI, vehemently condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.
The royal father noted that though the incident was allegedly carried out by an indigene of his community, Mr Pentecost Elijah, but that his community does not condone violence.
According to him, Otuan does not condone any act capable of disrupting public peace and order, even as he dissociated the community from the alleged incident.
Okoto encouraged residents to remain calm and law abiding, while tasking security operatives on thorough investigation.
To the government, the Monarch appealed that justice be tempered with mercy that leniency be considered in addressing the matter.
Okoto who insisted that no amount of provocation or frustration can justify any unlawful conduct acknowledged that the suspect was reportedly attacked with acid by unknown assailants several years ago and had allegedly sought government sponsored surgery from successive administrations.
Congratulating the governor, Senator Douye Diri, on his sixth anniversary in office, the royal father revealed that Otuan community had witnessed remarkable progress under the governor’s administration and cited the near completion of the Angiama–Oporoma Bridge by CCECC, including the successful laying of final slabs and the extension of asphalt into Otuan, as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to opening up riverine communities.
He hailed commended Diri’s visionary leadership and for ensuring the effective execution and completion of critical projects across the state and reaffirmed the community’s continued support for the administration and expressed appreciation for the developmental strides recorded so far.
