The Goal for Cleaner State: Sustainable Waste Management

The Health Environment and You (HEY) organization has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to esteemed partners who supported and participated in the launch of the Clean Rivers Initiative (CRI) in Port Harcourt. The event, which took place on Tuesday at the RIWAMA Complex, by the AJIP flyover, Port Harcourt, was hosted by the Rivers State Government through the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA).

The Clean Rivers Initiative, themed “Driving Sustainable Waste Management and the Circular Economy for a Cleaner and Greener Rivers State,” aims to promote sustainable waste management practices, public health safety, and Waste-to-Wealth initiatives across Rivers State. HEY acknowledged the contributions of its partners, including government agencies, private sector organizations, and community groups, whose support has strengthened its commitment to advancing these goals.

The partners recognized for their support include RIWAMA, NESREA, Rivers State Ministry of Education, RIVCHPP, EHCON, Rivers State Ministry of Transportation, Zero Waste Mutual Fund Cooperative, National Orientation Agency, Nigerian Hotel Association, and several other organizations.

In a statement, HEY emphasized that the partnership has bolstered its resolve to drive sustainable waste management and the circular economy, ultimately contributing to a cleaner and greener Rivers State. The success of the Clean Rivers Initiative is expected to have a positive impact on public health and the environment, aligning with the Rivers State Government’s vision for a healthier and more sustainable future.

The event underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies, private sector organizations, and community groups in addressing environmental and health challenges in Rivers State. HEY looks forward to continued partnership and collective action towards achieving a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for all residents of Rivers State.
