Investor Sabinus Makes Pounds Rain

Award-winning comedian and content creator, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus (Mr. Funny), brought a touch of international flair to the Port Harcourt social scene on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The “Investor” himself became the center of attention at the 40th birthday celebration of the well-known socialite and businessman, Ceemore, when he reportedly sprayed over £1,000 (One Thousand British Pounds) during a high-energy dance session.

The event, held at a luxury event center in the GRA Phase II area of Port Harcourt, was a star-studded affair featuring the city’s business elite and entertainment heavyweights. Ceemore, who turned 40 this week, is a prominent figure in the Rivers State hospitality and lifestyle circle, and the milestone celebration lived up to its high billing. However, the atmosphere shifted to a higher gear when Sabinus took to the floor. Dressed in a variation of his iconic blue shirt, the comedian pulled out stacks of £20 notes, raining the foreign currency on the celebrant to the amazement of the guests.

The “Pound rain” has sparked massive reactions across Port Harcourt’s entertainment digital space, with many fans noting that the comedian is living up to his “Investor” persona. At the current parallel market rate, £1,000 translates to over ₦1.8 million, making it one of the most significant “spraying” moments recorded in the Garden City this year. While the Central Bank of Nigeria has previously warned against the “spraying” of the Naira, the use of foreign currency like the British Pound at private events remains a common trend among Nigeria’s high-net-worth entertainers.

The party, which continued into the early hours of Thursday, saw performances from several local artists and comedy sets from Sabinus’s colleagues in the industry. For Ceemore, the 40th birthday bash serves as a testament to his influence in the Niger Delta’s social hierarchy. For Sabinus, the gesture reaffirms his status as one of Africa’s most successful digital creators, whose financial “investment” in the happiness of his friends and associates is as grand as his comedic skits.

Clips of the “Pound-spraying” moment have garnered thousands of views on TikTok and Instagram, with many Port Harcourt “Barneys” and “Gurus” hailing the comedian for “representing the city well.” The event has set a high bar for luxury celebrations in the state for the rest of the year.
