Gov Fubara Donates Bus to RSUTH Resident Doctors

In a move aimed at strengthening staff welfare and sustaining motivation in the health sector, the Rivers State Government has donated a brand-new bus to the Association of Resident Doctors at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).

This move, underscores Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s commitment to supporting frontline medical professionals.

The bus was officially handed over in Port Harcourt by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, alongside the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu Alikor, says the statement shared on 1 January.

They presented the keys to the President, executives and members of the Association of Resident Doctors on behalf of the state government.

Dr Oreh said the donation reflects the administration’s recognition of the demanding nature of doctors’ work and the need to provide practical support that enhances efficiency and service delivery.

She noted that investing in the welfare of healthcare workers remains a priority for the Fubara-led government.

Prof. Alikor described the gesture as timely, stressing that improved mobility for resident doctors would contribute positively to hospital operations and patient care.

He commended the state government for its continued interventions aimed at strengthening the teaching hospital.

The leadership of the Association of Resident Doctors expressed appreciation to Governor Fubara for what they described as a morale-boosting intervention, adding that the bus would ease transportation challenges faced by members in the course of their duties.
