Pipeline Surveillance, Energy Firms Donate to Boost Army Operations in Rivers, Bayelsa

Army operations in Rivers and Bayelsa states have received a boost following donations from Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) and MaCaw Energy Services Limited, aimed at supporting security personnel safeguarding national assets.

The two firms, operating within the Niger Delta’s energy corridor, presented livelihood support items to several military formations as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and stakeholder engagement drive. Beneficiary formations include the 26 Support Engineer Regiment and 29 Battalion, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt, as well as the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Soroh and 16 Battalion Garrison in Bayelsa State.

The donations comprised 2,000 bags of rice and other essential items such as torches, raincoats, bags, and water bottles, distributed to officers and men across the formations. Udoka Anyabolu, Project Manager of MaCaw Energy, said the gesture symbolised appreciation for the security forces’ commitment to protecting vital energy infrastructure.

He explained that the outreach, which is held quarterly, aims to strengthen collaboration between security agencies, host communities, and the firms, while promoting peace and sustainable engagement in the region.
Commanding officers, including A.O.
Akinbanmi of NNS Soroh and Captain K. Lawal of the 29th Battalion, commended the initiative, describing it as a morale booster that reflects a strong partnership between the military and private sector.

They assured continued cooperation to maintain zero incidents of vandalism and oil theft across the Niger Delta’s critical infrastructure.
