RSUTH Partners with AlmaMed Network to Strengthen NHIA Operations

The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has stepped up efforts to improve health insurance management through an intensive one-day training for its National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Unit.

The training was held on 1November 2025 in collaboration with AlmaMed Network Limited.

The capacity-building session focused on enhancing data management, claims processing, and digital integration to boost efficiency and transparency within the hospital’s NHIA system.

Declaring the session open, Dr. Ureh Oparaodu, representing the Chief Medical Director, described the exercise as “a timely and transformative effort” toward institutional growth. She praised AlmaMed Network Limited for its role in advancing healthcare standards and urged participants to apply the lessons learned.

NHIA Manager, Dr. Aloni Alali, said the workshop was designed to align RSUTH operations with evolving NHIA standards and digital systems, stressing that continuous training was vital for service improvement.

Facilitators from AlmaMed led engaging sessions covering topics such as digital record management, collaboration with NHIA, and tackling bottlenecks in health insurance workflows. Participants also shared field experiences and practical solutions to everyday challenges.

At the close of the event, attendees received certificates of participation, expressing readiness to implement the new knowledge. Dr. Ureh reaffirmed RSUTH’s commitment to continuous improvement and quality patient care.

The training was hailed as a key milestone in RSUTH’s drive toward a more efficient and patient-centred health insurance system.
