Bayelsa Health Commissioner Seiyefa Brisibe Quits PDP

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prof. Brisibe announced his resignation in a letter dated October 16, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Secretary, Ward 10, Okoloba, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area. The letter was received on behalf of the Ward Chairman.

In his resignation letter, the Commissioner explained that his decision was influenced by the recent resignation of the state’s governor, Senator Douye Diri, from the PDP.

He described Governor Diri as an exceptional leader whose commitment to the development of Bayelsa State has been evident in the execution of strategic road projects, urban renewal, power infrastructure, and improvements in human capital development across the health and education sectors.

“As a health practitioner and Commissioner, I remain deeply committed to increasing life expectancy, improving the quality of life of our people, and contributing meaningfully to the development of our state,” he stated.

He further appreciated his experience within the PDP, noting that his time in the party was both “enriching and transformative,” having provided the opportunity to work with visionary leaders and dedicated party members who shared his passion for service and development.
