The President of a socio cultural group ,Boonalo Gokana, Hon. Kpoobari Badom has called for economic development and transformation in the area.
Addressing journalist shortly after the organisation stakeholders meeting at Gberesakoo hall in Gokana, the President of the group, Hon. Kpoobari Baadom called for speedy developme in Gokana and beyond.
He maintained that key areas such as education of the children must be given priority as development especially now that the federal government is proposing computer base West African School Certificate noting that Gokana students must not lack behind.
The group president further explained that the Computer Centre built by the Gokana LGA some years ago must be reactivated for use by the students.
Hon. Badom stressed that the group Boonalo Gokana will engage relevant developmental agencies to look for area of collaboration, saying that the primary aim and objective of the group is to spotlight development and fast-tract how the people of Gokana will benefit from all
” We must make Gokana peaceful and conducive both for our people and strangers amongst us” he said.
On the issue of unemployment among the people of Gokana, he said the group will seek necessary information and consult relevant bodies that can help to reduce the level of unemployment among our youth.
Sir D K Badom used the event to commend President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of the Federal University of Environment Technology in Ogoni land, adding that this gesture would open opportunities for growth and prosperity in the area especially in the area of employment and other businesses.

The forum also congratulated Chief Hon. Confidence Yima Deko DSSRS on his election victory as Chairman elect of Gokana LGA. The President stated that the LGA Chairman is an automatic member of Boonalo Gokana. He expressed satisfaction that Hon. Deko with his wealth of experience will collaborate with the group for transformation as the body will be willing to work with him.
He task every community leader to maintain and sustain the current peace in the area, according to him, no development can take place without peace. Hon. Badom promised that under his leadership Gokana will be great again.
Highlight of the event was the appointment of seasoned technocrat and former Secretary Kagote Chief S.K. Dekor as vice President while Dr. James Fiiwe was appointed for the position of the treasurer.
