IGP Egbekotun

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, is currently leading a Nigerian delegation at the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) in Lianyungang, China, from September 16-18, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement posted on the police X page on Monday, September 15, and signed by the force’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

This high-profile international event, to which the 61-year-old was invited by the Chinese government, brings together top security officials and experts from around the world to discuss strategies for combating transnational crime and enhancing global public safety.

On September 18, Egbetokun, a Mathematics graduate of the University of Lagos, Akoka, will deliver a keynote address on the theme “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.”

The Ogun-born presentation will highlight Nigeria’s proactive anti-crime measures, ongoing police reforms, and cooperative initiatives with international partners to dismantle cross-border criminal networks.

Before the forum began, Egbetokun held a bilateral meeting with the Chinese Deputy Minister of Public Security, Qi Yanjun, on September 15.

The discussion centred on improving security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and capacity building between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.

The IGP’s presence at the forum demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to international security collaboration and its strategic approach to addressing modern security threats.

It also reinforces Nigeria’s role as a key global partner in shaping the future of public security and law enforcement.

The delegation’s participation underscores a dedication to adopting intelligence-driven policing and proactive responses to emerging security challenges.
