ADC Clarifies Court Ruling, Debunks Reports of Leadership Restraint

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has moved to correct what it calls “false reports” regarding a recent Federal High Court ruling concerning its leadership.

The party stated that the court did not restrain David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from their roles as National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC addressed what it tagged “misleading publications,” clarifying that the court, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, refused an ex parte application filed by Nafiu Gombe.

The party emphasised that the court’s ruling, delivered on September 4, 2025, directed that the matter proceed with due process rather than issuing an injunction against its leaders.

The ADC’s statement detailed the four specific orders from the court: refusing the plaintiff’s application, directing the plaintiff to serve notice to the defendants, ordering the defendants to appear and show cause, and adjourning the case to September 15, 2025.

The party noted that the order was officially signed by Justice Nwite and certified by a court registrar. The party accused “political jobbers” of resorting to “fake news” after failing to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from acknowledging the leadership change.

The ADC described these actions as desperate attempts to “sow confusion and further undermine opposition parties.”

The ADC leadership urged the media and the public to be cautious of inaccurate reports, which it attributed to agents of the ruling party.

The party’s statement serves as a clear refutation of the circulating rumours and aims to set the record straight on the court’s decision, affirming that its current leadership remains intact and operational.
