‎Aliyu Unveiled U-20 World Cup Squad List Submission Date

‎Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu is set to submit his final roster for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile on Friday, September 19. The seven-time African champions are currently training for the tournament in Abuja.

‎Zubairu is expected to bring in several foreign-based professionals to his squad for this biennial event. The Flying Eagles are scheduled to depart for Chile next week to finalize their preparations.

‎Nigeria will compete against Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Sweden in the group stage. Zubairu’s team will kick off their campaign against Norway on Monday, September 29.

‎In anticipation of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will take place in Chile from September 17 to October 19, Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubair has expressed the team’s goal of exceeding Nigeria’s previous achievements in the tournament.

‎The Flying Eagles have been placed in Group F of the tournament, alongside Colombia, Norway, and Saudi Arabia.

‎Zubairu guided the team to a third-place finish at the 2025 U-20 AFCON in Egypt, securing their spot in the World Cup.

‎They commenced a new training phase in Abuja last month, and the coach is determined to make a mark in Nigeria’s history at the tournament.

‎“We are gathering information about our opponents, including their strengths and individual skills.

We hold all the teams in our group in high regard. We are not underestimating them, and we will not compromise, as long as we aim to surpass our records.”

‎The Flying Eagles finished as runners-up in the tournament twice, first in 1989, when they were narrowly defeated by Portugal, and again in 2005, losing to an Argentina team led by Lionel Messi.

‎They will face Norway in their opening match on September 29, followed by Saudi Arabia on October 3, and their final group match will be against Colombia three days later.
