The meeting is viewed as part of Macron’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships to support Nigeria’s economic and security goals. This encounter is Tinubu’s seventh visit to France since he assumed office in May 2023.

The Nigerian presidency had previously announced that Tinubu began a ten-day working vacation in Europe on September 4, 2025, with plans to spend time in both France and the United Kingdom before returning home.
