The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2026 CAF Awards will be held in Lagos, Nigeria, on Monday, December 7.
The prestigious event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Theatre, located in Iganmu, Lagos.
The ceremony is one of the biggest events on the African football calendar and will bring together some of the continent’s most influential football figures, including players, coaches, administrators and stakeholders.
CAF said the annual awards ceremony will celebrate outstanding achievements in African football, recognising exceptional performances by players, coaches and football officials over the past year.
The 2026 edition will mark the fourth time Lagos has hosted the CAF Awards. The city previously staged the event in 2008, 2013 and 2014, reinforcing its status as one of Africa’s leading destinations for major football events.
Nigeria will also host another significant CAF event later in the year. The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to take place on November 21, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BTICC) in Abuja.
The General Assembly is expected to bring together football administrators from CAF’s member associations to discuss key issues concerning the development and governance of African football.
Hosting both the CAF Awards and the CAF Ordinary General Assembly underlines Nigeria’s growing role in continental football and provides another opportunity for the country to showcase its capacity to organise major international sporting events.
With Lagos set to welcome Africa’s football elite in December, attention will now turn to the race for the continent’s top individual and team honours at the 2026 CAF Awards.
