Spotify has finally delivered on one of its longest-standing promises: lossless audio quality. Starting September 10, 2025, the streaming giant began rolling out its long-anticipated Lossless streaming feature to Premium subscribers worldwide, offering it at no additional cost.
The new option streams music in FLAC format at up to 24-bit/44.1kHz, representing a significant leap forward in sound quality. For years, audiophiles and casual listeners alike have urged Spotify to match the high-resolution offerings of competitors such as Apple Music and Tidal.
With this release, the company is closing a gap in its service while reaffirming its position as the leading global music platform.
According to Spotify, the rollout will take place across more than 50 markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and Japan. The process will be phased in over several weeks, with full availability expected by the end of October.
Premium subscribers will receive an in-app notification when Lossless becomes active on their accounts, ensuring a smooth and direct onboarding.

The decision to integrate Lossless streaming into the existing Premium tier marks a notable shift in strategy. For months, speculation swirled around the possibility of Spotify launching a new add-on service often rumored under the name Music Pro.
Instead, the company opted to fold the feature into Premium without increasing subscription fees, a move that has been widely welcomed by users.
By introducing Lossless as a free upgrade, Spotify is not only enhancing its listening experience but also strengthening its competitive stance.
The feature’s arrival underscores the company’s commitment to evolving with the demands of modern listeners and maintaining its dominance in an increasingly crowded streaming landscape.
