‎Apple to Discontinue 8 Products After the Launch of iPhone 17

Apple is gearing up for one of its most significant events of the year. On September 9, the company will introduce the iPhone 17 lineup at its “Awe-dropping” event in Apple Park. In addition to the new releases, Apple is anticipated to retire eight of its current products, paving the way for a refreshed selection.

‎The focus will be on the new iPhone 17 series, which is poised to replace several older models. Reports indicate that Apple will eliminate the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max from its official inventory. While third-party retailers may still offer these devices for some time, they will no longer be available through Apple’s own stores.

‎Apple watches and AirPods on the exit list

‎The changes will extend beyond iPhones. Apple is also expected to discontinue three smartwatch models, including the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch SE (second generation). The company has consistently replaced its watches annually, with new models taking their place immediately.

‎AirPods Pro 2 may also be phased out as Apple prepares for the next generation of wireless earbuds. However, there is a chance that Apple might retain them at a lower price if the upcoming AirPods Pro 3 are launched at a premium.

‎What remains on Apple’s shelves

‎This strategy aligns with Apple’s typical approach of maintaining the previous year’s standard models at discounted prices while discontinuing older Pro versions. Consequently, the new iPhone lineup could feature:

‎iPhone 16e starting at $599 ( ₹51,499 in India)
‎iPhone 16 from $699 ( ₹69,999 in India)
‎iPhone 16 Plus from $799 ( ₹78,999)
‎iPhone 17 from $799 ( ₹79,900)
‎iPhone 17 Air from $949 ( ₹99,999)
‎iPhone 17 Pro from $1,049 ( ₹1,34,999)
‎iPhone 17 Pro Max from $1,199 ( ₹1,45,000)

‎Industry analysts have suggested potential price changes, including a $50 increase for the iPhone 17 Pro in exchange for enhanced storage options.

‎Apple’s fall events are always highly anticipated, but the changes this year are especially noteworthy. By discontinuing four iPhones, three Apple Watches, and one pair of AirPods, Apple is refining its product range while ensuring that every iPhone sold is compatible with its new Apple Intelligence features.

‎The iPhone 17 launch event is scheduled for September 9 at Apple Park.
