‎‘Super Eagles Loss To Sudan, My Worst Game As Coach’

Eagles Coach Eric Chelle expressed his surprise and disappointment regarding the significant margin of his team’s loss to Sudan in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is co-sponsored by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

‎Sudan triumphed over Nigeria with a score of 4-0 in Zanzibar on Tuesday, effectively eliminating any hopes for the Super Eagles B to progress in the tournament.

‎Following last week’s 0-1 loss to Senegal, this latest defeat came as a shock to many football fans who had anticipated the Super Eagles would recover in the championship, designed for players competing in their domestic leagues.

‎Chelle remarked that Tuesday evening’s match was a test of both patience and pride, lamenting that it turned out to be the worst game he has ever witnessed.

‎“We have lost all ambition. The CHAN is over for us. We have one more match to play for our honour and respect. However, I am disappointed with this match. It is the worst game I’ve overseen from the dugout as coach.”

‎As they prepare for their final game against Congo, Chelle cautioned: “If we perform like this against Congo, it won’t just be a four-goal deficit. We need to clear our minds and mentally prepare for Congo.” He highlighted the loss of nearly eight key domestic players who have moved abroad as a pivotal moment.

‎“Although some crucial players departed from our preparation camp, they were the best in our league. We cannot afford to play like that and lose in such a manner. We must be more focused.”

‎The errors made against Sudan proved to be detrimental. “The players were focused during the first 20 minutes. Our goal was disallowed, and after that, we committed numerous mistakes… four mistakes, four goals. Our training session prior to the match went well. We analyzed Sudan’s team and prepared thoroughly, but we were not ready for the number of mistakes we made.
