EFCC Working for APC- ADC Alleges

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of working as a political tool for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement posted on his X page, which was obtained by the Port City News.

According to him, the Commission’s investigation is selective and targets opposition political figures and suppresses dissent.

He further alleged the agency of reopening old cases and issuing politically motivated summons to senior members of the opposition coalition.

Abdullahi said this way of operation is a “political enforcer” rather than an impartial anti-corruption agency.

According to him, the EFCC, created to be a fearless defender of the citizens and apply the law evenly to all, has compromised.

He said the Commission is now operating as a department of the APC, deployed to fight government critics and opposition figures.

Abdullahi further highlighted the disparity in the anti-graft agency’s actions, alleging that investigations into ruling party allies quietly fade away while opposition members face renewed scrutiny over decade-old allegations.

He cited a former governor who defected from the APC and has seen investigations into his administration vanish from public view.

He asked Nigerians, civil society organisations, and the media to resist this EFCC action, which he tagged “a dangerous slide into dictatorship.”

He reminded the public that the EFCC is a public institution funded by taxpayers, not a tool of the ruling party.
