Award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has opened up about her personal struggles with love, revealing that at 44, she has never truly experienced romantic love, except from her son, Jamil.
Speaking in a candid interview with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the Somebody’s Son hitmaker reflected on her past relationships, including her marriage to former manager Tunji Balogun (Teebillz), and admitted they were based on infatuation, not genuine love.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.

Tiwa Savage and Teebillz were married in 2013 and divorced in 2018 after efforts to resolve their differences proved unsuccessful. Their union produced one child, Jamil.
The singer added that she now questions whether love is meant for her at all.
“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she said.
Her emotional honesty has resonated with fans across social media, with many praising her vulnerability and others expressing concern over the toll her romantic disappointments may have taken.
