Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has secured its place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
The team dominated Cameroon with a final score of 83-47 in their quarter-final match on Thursday night at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan.
This decisive victory marks D’Tigress’s sixth straight appearance in the tournament’s semi-finals, a streak that began after the 2013 competition.
The Nigerian squad started strong, establishing a commanding lead early in the game.
They finished the first quarter ahead 21-9 and maintained their advantage through halftime with a score of 41-29.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Nigeria widened the gap significantly by scoring 25 points to Cameroon’s meagre two, effectively putting the game out of reach.
D’Tigress continued to control the final quarter, culminating in a 36-point margin of victory.
Forward Amy Okoronkwo was the game’s top scorer with 18 points, while Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi each contributed 12 points to the winning effort.
Looking ahead, Nigeria is set to face Senegal in the semi-finals on Saturday.
D’Tigress is one step closer to clinching their fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket championship title.
