Obio/Akpor Administrator Commends Sanitation Committee, Donates Vehicle To Support Operations

The administrator of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Clifford Ndu Walter, has lauded the Environmental Sanitation Committee led by Chief Chijioke Kennedy Akaninwa for what he described as their commendable efforts in maintaining cleanliness and public health across the area.

During a briefing at the Council Secretariat in Rumuodomaya, Walter praised the committee’s dedication and visible impact, emphasizing the need for residents to adhere strictly to waste disposal guidelines and sanitation protocols.

He expressed concern over illegal waste dumping and called for stricter enforcement, directing that violators be apprehended during the Thursday environmental sanitation hours (7:00 AM–10:00 AM).

“You are doing a great job, and everyone can see the results. I sincerely commend your efforts.

“Some residents dump waste in open and unauthorized locations, especially during the day. This is unacceptable. We have aired jingles and issued warnings. Obio/Akpor must remain clean.

“All shops must remain closed during the sanitation hours. Anyone who flouts this directive should be arrested and taken to the nearest police station.”

The event was attended by Council Secretary Mr. Ezebunwo Ogbonda and aides to the Sole Administrator.
