The Rivers State Police Command has condemned a social media report and a circulating video alleging that suspected cultists renovated the Abuloma Police Outpost and visited it on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the work.
As a result, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abuloma Division and the officer overseeing the outpost have been queried and relieved of their duties pending investigation.
In a press release, the command said it strongly condemns any action or association that could compromise the integrity, discipline, and professional standards of the force, or give legitimacy to suspected cult groups or other unlawful organisations.
It said police facilities are public institutions meant to protect citizens and enforce the law, and must not become platforms through which criminal groups seek public validation or influence. It added that, under Commissioner of Police Olugbenga A. Adepoju, it maintains zero tolerance for criminality and for conduct that undermines public confidence in the police.

The Commissioner has ordered a full investigation to establish what happened and whether the allegations are true. The inquiry will look into:
- the identities and backgrounds of those who financed or facilitated the renovation
- the officers who authorised or approved the project
- whether proper procedures were followed
- whether any officer breached professional standards or compromised the force’s integrity
- the extent of any involvement by police personnel
The command said it welcomes legitimate community support for improving police facilities, citing Section 26(1)(d) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which provides for gifts and contributions to the Police General Fund. But it stressed that such support must not compromise police independence, professional standards, or security.
The investigation will also determine whether the necessary approvals were obtained and whether appropriate checks were made on those behind the renovation. It stated that no donation or assistance confers immunity from investigation or prosecution.
The command said it will not tolerate unprofessional conduct, compromise, or improper association with criminal elements by any officer, and that appropriate disciplinary and legal action will follow for anyone found culpable. It reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, protecting lives and property, and fighting cultism and organised crime, and urged the public to stay calm and keep providing credible, timely information.
