Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has commissioned the 105-bed Omoku Zonal Hospital in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, describing the facility as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the Orashi region.

At the commissioning, Governor Fubara appealed to residents, traditional rulers, community leaders and youths to protect the hospital from vandalism and theft.
He warned that communities would be held responsible if the facility is damaged or allowed to deteriorate, stressing the need to preserve the project for future generations.

The Omoku hospital is one of three zonal hospitals planned for Rivers West Senatorial District. While the Ahoada facility has already been commissioned, work is ongoing to equip the hospital in Degema.

The new facility is expected to provide medical services to residents of Omoku, Egbema, Ndoni and surrounding communities, including parts of the Ahoada axis.
The Oba of Ogba Land, Dr. Nwachukwu Obuoha Obi III, commended the governor for completing the hospital and the 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku dual carriageway, saying the road has improved transportation and security in the area.
The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Nwachukwu, said the hospital would also cater to communities across Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Emohua and parts of Ikwerre.
