The Rivers State Police Command has also been urging its officers to register for the Police Health Insurance Scheme as part of a two-week medical outreach program designed to enhance the welfare of the police personnel and ensure preventive healthcare.
The medical outreach program, known as “Know Your Numbers” Campaign, has been launched by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The outreach campaign has been conducted in collaboration with HealthLink & Bridge Initiative and Police Health Maintenance Limited (Police HMO), says Revelation Agent publication.
Some of the services provided include free medical consultation, checking of high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), ECG, urinalysis, checking for vitamin D deficiency and signing up for health insurance.

Speaking through his Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Alhassan Kawu, the Commissioner said this was one of the efforts of the command in ensuring the health and welfare of its officers and their families as a healthy force is very important for policing.
ACP Ahunanya Chukwudi Nnaedozie in charge of Medical Services said the program has been in line with the welfare program of the Inspector General of Police.
In addition to that, he pointed out that the process will be replicated among all Area Commands and police units within Rivers State as modern digital diagnostics equipment will be used to capture health data of the officers in real-time.
Mrs. Edith Peters representing the Managing Director of Police Health Maintenance Limited encouraged officers who have not joined the Police Health Insurance Scheme to make good use of this outreach program as it is an opportunity for officers to obtain quality healthcare services as well as minimizing costs incurred through medical expenses.
The HealthLink & Bridge Initiative presented the portable digital diagnostics equipment which enables the officers to get medical consultations while at their duty posts through telemedicine.
