The Delta State Government has unveiled plans to construct a 330kV transmission line and substation in Kwale as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure and improve electricity supply to residents and industries.
Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Ifeanyi Anoka, made this disclosure during a high-level meeting with the management of Dexteron Group in Asaba on Wednesday, July 16, 2026.
According to him, the project is aimed at boosting power evacuation capacity and reinforcing the transmission network across the state.
He emphasised that the initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to reliable electricity supply.
“Sustainable development is achieved when ideas are matched with decisive action,” the Commissioner stated.
Discussions at the meeting focused on partnering with credible and technically competent contractors to fast-track the completion of the transmission infrastructure in Kwale.
Present at the meeting were Mr. Agbanuji David, Head of Operations, Dexteron Group, and Mr. Emmanuel Oboh, Managing Consultant, NDT.
Engr. Anoka reaffirmed the dedication of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration to delivering impactful projects through strategic collaborations that will positively transform the lives of Deltans.
He added that the Kwale 330kV transmission line and substation, when completed, will not only enhance power supply but also stimulate industrial activities and drive socio-economic growth, particularly in Ndokwa land and other parts of the state.
