Security operatives have apprehended Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), at his hideout in Osun State.
The arrest on Tuesday was carried out by the Police Intelligence Response Team from Abuja shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his immediate arrest.
The judicial order followed Adeyemi’s repeated failure to appear in court to face an eight-count criminal charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the prosecution counsel, Wisdom Madaki, told the court that the case was adjourned five times to accommodate the defendant’s arraignment.
Madaki argued that Adeyemi’s persistent absence was stalling the trial, prompting him to file an oral application for a bench warrant under Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.
In response, the defense counsel, Genesis Francis, told the court that he had been unable to persuade his client to attend the proceedings.
Francis explained that Adeyemi had voiced concerns over his safety in an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, claiming he feared for his life due to the high-profile national attention the case has attracted.
Dismissing these concerns, Justice Umar noted that the criminal charges were originally filed on November 27, 2025, and proceedings commenced on December 4, 2025.
He pointed out that the defendant had only appeared once in court, with subsequent hearings stalling due to his absence.
The judge then granted the prosecution’s request, issued the bench warrant, and adjourned the matter until September 30, 2026.
Hours after the ruling, intelligence officers tracked Adeyemi to Osun State and took him into custody.
Adeyemi is expected to be transferred to the Police Headquarters in Abuja, according to reports.
According to the charge sheet, Adeyemi faces multiple counts of felony for allegedly forging a presidential appointment letter.
The prosecution alleges that he forged the signature of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, fabricated State House letterheads dated March 8, 2024, and falsely presented himself as the head of the non-existent PFIPC to secure unauthorized government offices.
