As part of its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of natives and residents of the area, the Abua/Odual Local Government Council of Rivers State has intensified collaboration with heads of security agencies.
The council and the heads of security agencies held a community engagement and familiarization tour to five communities across the LGA.
The communities visited were Ogbema, Otari, Amalem, Oghora, and Arukwo, as part of the Uru Odighi administration’s determination to curb insecurity.
In each of the communities visited, the team held strategic engagements with traditional rulers, chiefs, youth leaders, women, and other stakeholders on issues bordering on security in the areas.
The delegation explained to the people that peace and security of lives and property were the foundation for development, urging all to be vigilant and report suspicious movements and people to security agencies.
According to the Uru Odighi team, every resident has a vital role to play in building a safer Abua/Odual, even as it reaffirmed that “the Uru Odighi Administration remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment where development can thrive.
“Effective security can only be achieved through collective responsibility and sustained cooperation between the people and security agencies.
“We call on community leaders to continue supporting government efforts by fostering unity and promptly reporting suspicious activities.
“The ongoing tour is aimed at deepening trust, enhancing community-based security partnerships, and reinforcing the existing security architecture across all communities in Abua/Odual.”
The team gave the assurance that the familiarization and engagement tour will continue across the remaining communities in the local government area.
The interactive meetings provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the council, community leadership, and security agencies while encouraging residents to take an active role in promoting peace, vigilance, and timely intelligence sharing.
