Local Government Councils Association of Nigeria (ALGON) Rivers State have declared support for the former Governor of the State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, describing him as a visionary leader whose performance in Abuja has made the Rivers people proud.
The 23 chairmen of the Association who made the remarks during a solidarity visit to Barrister Wike in Abuja , also threw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid next year while expressing confidence that the President would secure a second term.
ALGON Rivers state, led by Allwell Ihunda, said the projects being inaugurated across the FCT demonstrate Wike’s leadership capacity noting that his transformation of Abuja as unprecedented.
“We are here today in solidarity with our leader, the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. We are indeed very happy and proud that a son of Rivers State has decided to change the landscape of the Federal Capital Territory,” said Ihunda, who is also the Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA).
“We are aware that this programme spans 31 days, and today is already the 24th day of project commissioning. This shows the capacity, competence and visionary leadership of Chief Nyesom Wike. We are proud of what he is doing,” he said.
The Rivers council chairmen said the achievements recorded by President Tinubu qualified him for another four-year mandate.
“With what we are seeing and what has been done, it is obvious that come 2027, Rivers State and indeed Nigerians will want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to return and continue his good works for another four years,” they said.
Hon. Ihunda claimed that virtually all major political interests in Rivers State are in support of the President under what he described as a “rainbow coalition.”
“The 2027 election in Rivers State will be a walkover. For the first time, virtually all political parties are working together in the interest of the President and the Federal Government,” he said.
Responding to questions on the advantage of incumbency in the state, Ihunda maintained that there was no cause for concern, insisting that the current political leadership in Rivers has already aligned with the coalition backing Tinubu.
