An alleged killing of an elderly man over a land dispute is reported to have happened in Rivers State after a man believed to be in his 30s allegedly murdered his father, Captain David Nwoke, a retired pilot, at Oro Ekpo Estate, Ada George, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
According to a revelation agent, the unfortunate incident took place on Saturday morning and led to the arrest of the accused by Rumupakani Police Division officers at the spot.
Security agents alerted people on the estate around 10 a.m. to notify them that one landlord had been allegedly killed by his son. It was alleged that he was found lying in a pool of blood before his body was carted away to the mortuary.

Reports from people on the estate suggested that the cause of the tragedy might be a dispute between them due to the sale of their land. The deceased was believed to have sold a house that his children had recently been occupying, which angered the killer.
“He sold the house where they were living, and the young man became enraged. We were told that he attacked his father from upstairs. The deceased came downstairs bleeding, but the suspect allegedly followed him and stabbed him repeatedly until he died,” says a resident, who spoke anonymously.
Furthermore, it was reported by the resident that the accused person had a history of being violent against his father before; however, the information has not yet been confirmed by the police.
The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Blessing Kaborlo, confirmed the incident while noting that the suspect was in custody undergoing investigation.
“I can confirm that the suspect is in police custody. Investigations have commenced with a view to ensuring that justice is served,” the police spokesperson stated.
