Successful candidates have emerged from the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State, for the 2026/2027 admission into the Ijaw National Academy.
The students’ emergence was revealed by the state ministry of education following the conclusion of the oral interview conducted for shortlisted pupils drawn from the eight LGA, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Interview for the scholarship admission known as Prosperity Scholarship Admission was held at Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa. The exercise marked the final stage of the admission process for the candidates.
Overwhelmed parents of the pupils who emerged commended the education ministry for ensuring transparency, credibility and merit-driven selection process.
They also hailed the state Directorate of Schools Inspection and Policy Services, and the students who they encouraged to remain disciplined, focused and committed to excellence throughout the academic journey.

The initiative is part of the governor, Senator Douye Diri’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.
Diri reaffirmed that the education sector would be strengthened through sustained investment in quality learning, human capital development and scholarship programmes that prepare people to become responsible leaders and global citizens.
According to the education ministry, “following a rigorous and merit-based assessment, the successful candidates have been presented with their admission prospectuses, signifying their formal admission into the prestigious Ijaw National Academy, one of Bayelsa State’s flagship model schools dedicated to academic excellence and leadership development.
“The Prosperity Scholarship Programme remains one of the Bayelsa State government’s strategic investments in education, designed to identify, nurture, and empower academically gifted pupils by providing them with access to high-quality secondary education in a conducive and world-class learning environment.”
