The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has intensified efforts to ensure that its enrollees continue to receive quality healthcare services in line with its mandate.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Vetty Agala, made this known through the Head of Standards and Quality Control, Pharm. Bona Vopnu, following a quality assessment visit to selected Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) facilities on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
The assessment team visited several primary healthcare centres, including Primary Health Centre, Erema; Model Primary Health Centre, Akabuka; Model Primary Health Centre, Oboburu; and Model Primary Health Centre, Omoku, all located in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to Pharm. Vopnu, the routine exercise was aimed at evaluating compliance with established healthcare standards and assessing the quality of services provided to RIVCHPP enrollees.

She explained that the visit enabled the agency to review facility operations, check the availability of essential medicines and equipment, assess record-keeping practices, and evaluate infrastructure and service delivery processes.
Pharm. Vopnu noted that the exercise also provided an opportunity for the agency to engage with facility staff, offer technical support, and strengthen accountability mechanisms to ensure efficient and quality primary healthcare service delivery across communities.
She assured that the agency would promptly address identified gaps and challenges to further improve service delivery.
The RIVCHPP reiterated its commitment to sustaining high standards in healthcare provision and ensuring that enrollees receive accessible, efficient, and quality medical services.
