The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the circulation of fake online portals being used to defraud unsuspecting applicants under the guise of recruitment for examination supervisors.
The Council also announced its transition from an analogue recruitment process to a fully electronic system for the selection of examination supervisors and assistant supervisors.
In a statement dated Tuesday, 9 June 2026, NECO said the fraudulent portals were requesting applicants to submit academic credentials and make payments as part of the recruitment process.
NECO stressed that it does not request or receive any form of payment from teachers applying to serve as supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
It explained that the new electronic recruitment system was introduced in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, aimed at strengthening supervision and reducing malpractice.
According to the Council, the transition to a fully digital process is expected to improve transparency, block fraudulent recruitment activities, and ensure fairness in the selection of examination officials.
NECO stated that qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are not less than 30 years of age, are eligible to apply as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal.
It directed interested applicants to submit their applications only through its official portal at https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng, warning that no third party has been authorised to conduct the recruitment process on its behalf.
The Council added that the system is fully automated, designed to prevent interference, enhance credibility, and strengthen the integrity of the examination process.
NECO further disclosed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited for the 2026 SSCE Internal, scheduled to commence on 15 June 2026.
