Some aggrieved youths in Rivers State on Saturday staged a protest in Port Harcourt, demanding the immediate release of children reportedly kidnapped in Oyo State on May 15, 2026.
The protesters, who marched through major streets, markets, and motor parks, carried placards bearing inscriptions such as “Tinubu Must Go,” “Bring Back Our Abducted Children,” and “46 Children Kidnapped, 46 Families in Pain.”
Speaking on behalf of the group, a protest leader identified as Very Fair Man called for the urgent rescue and reunification of the children with their families. He expressed concern over the psychological and emotional trauma the victims may be experiencing.
“These children are too young to go through such mental and emotional distress. They should be in school learning, not held captive in the bush,” he said.

The protesters also voiced strong dissatisfaction with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They dismissed claims that votes do not count, arguing that vote-buying practices indicate the value placed on citizens’ participation in the electoral process.
The demonstration featured chants of “Enough is enough” as participants called for improved security and accountability from government authorities.
The protest comes amid growing concerns over insecurity and rising cases of abduction in parts of the country.
