The Supreme Court of Nigeria has introduced a new digital platform for the verification of notarized documents and access to certified Notaries Public across the country.
In a statement released by the apex court issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court on Saturday, June 5, 2026, the initiative was described as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, improve document authentication, and reduce fraud in official, regulatory, commercial, and administrative processes.
The statement announced that the Electronic Notary Register (ENR) is now accessible via www.notary.gov.ng as the official platform for verifying notarized documents.
It directed banks, embassies, consulates, government agencies, private institutions, and members of the public to verify all notarized documents presented for official purposes through the platform before acceptance or processing.
According to the apex court, the digital system also provides access to duly certified Notaries Public for Remote Online Notarization and other notarial services in line with existing laws and regulations.
The court explained that the move is aimed at modernising notarization processes and ensuring that only authentic and properly certified documents are accepted across institutions.
It further advised users to rely strictly on the official portal for verification in order to prevent the use of fraudulent or forged notarized documents.
For enquiries and verification support, the court directed users to contact [email protected].
The apex court reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the integrity of legal documentation and improving access to secure and verifiable notarial services nationwide.
