Rivers State Government Awards Scholarship to PAMO Students

In a continued push for educational excellence and human capital development, the Rivers State Government has granted scholarships to 150 students of Rivers origin who secured provisional admission into PAMO University of Medical Sciences.

In a statement by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Education, Tochi Abinye Pepple on November 6, 2025. beneficiaries are students pursuing their studies in Medicine and Surgery, along with other medical-related courses.

According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Mrs. Azibaolanari Uzoma-Nwogu while addressing the students at the conference hall of the Ministry of Education in Port Harcourt, emphasized Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s unwavering commitment to quality education.

“His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara is committed towards quality education. We are grateful and very appreciative of the Governor because without him approving of the continuity of this scholarship, we would not be here,”

Dr. Uzoma-Nwogu described the governor’s initiatives as highly commendable, highlighting how they enable manpower development in the state.

The Permanent Secretary while urging the scholars to excel advised them to study diligently to honor their parents and the state.

“The journey to greatness for you has just begun,” she said,

While warning against social vices that could derail their academic progress and future prospects, she concluded by congratulating the awardees on their achievement.

The Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity.

Miss Favour Mark-Balm and Master Jasmine Ndamati Ndu thanked God and Governor Fubara for sponsoring their university education, pledging their loyalty to the Rivers State Government.

Mr. Allison Babra, father of one the scholar, praised the Governor for alleviating the financial strain of tuition and other university costs.

“This has lifted a heavy burden off my shoulders,” he said.
