Businesses and commuters in the Ozuoba axis of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area have issued an urgent appeal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to intervene in the catastrophic failure of the Ozuoba Road, warning that the deplorable condition is inflicting substantial, daily economic losses across the commercial corridor.
The affected stretch, specifically between Cornerstone and April Hospital, has become nearly impassable following heavy rains and long-term neglect. According to reports from commercial transport operators, the resulting daily traffic gridlock and frequent vehicle breakdowns are significantly hiking logistics costs and crippling productivity in the highly urbanized area.
The failure of this major artery is having a direct, negative impact on the local economy. Extended travel times are leading to missed commercial appointments and lost man-hours, a critical drain on the limited workforce capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Furthermore, the state of the road is reportedly accelerating vehicle wear-and-tear, increasing operational expenditure (OpEx) for local distribution companies and commercial taxis. The urgency of the appeal stems from the strategic location of the road. Ozuoba is a focal point for massive government infrastructure projects, including the completed Mgbuoba/Ozuoba Flyover and the ongoing Port Harcourt Ring Road Project.
The community argues that the continued neglect of this specific segment undermines the economic benefits of the larger capital investments, creating a severe access choke point. This market devaluation poses a direct threat to commercial real estate development in the area, discouraging new investment despite the billions flowing into surrounding infrastructure.
The residents’ renewed and pointed appeal to Governor Fubara comes immediately following the restoration of constitutional governance in the state on September 18, 2025. Community stakeholders hope that, with the political uncertainty resolved, the administration will prioritize this critical infrastructure failure to safeguard local business revenue and maintain the economic integrity of the Obio-Akpor commercial hub.
