The Administrator of Ahoada West LGA, Mr. Promise Jacob hosted other Local Government Councils in Rivers State affected by floods in Mbiama Community.
The event which had in attendance the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika was held in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Rivers State Central Working Committee on Flood Management and Control 2025.
In his address, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas which was delivered by the Secretary to the state government, Professor Ibibia Worika, the Sole Administrator noted that the need to avert the devastation caused by floods which had in previous years resulted in destroyed farmlands, and isolated communities necessitated the exercise.

The groundbreaking exercise code-named Eji-Gbaje Ugbo reflected a renewed commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting communities, and preparing proactively for flood challenges ahead.

The Administrator of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area Dr. Ndu Walter, the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Dr. Sam Kalagbor and other relevant stakeholders were in attendance at the exercise which aimed at ensuring the negative impact of flooding is reduced in the state.
Ahoada West Local Government Area is one of the local government areas in the state that is heavily impacted by annual flooding and this is an effort to show resilience, unity and preparedness.
The Rivers state government has also put in place plans to establish a state emergency management agency to ensure that the implementation of a workable plan for disaster management.
