WAFCON 2024: Oluremi Tinubu, Atiku Hail Super Falcons’ Final Berth

On Tuesday evening, Nigeria Super Falcons progressed to the finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following their impressive 2-1 victory over South Africa.

The team are receiving widespread commendation from across the political spectrum following their impressive 2-1 victory over Bayana Bayana.

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have extended their congratulations, expressing pride and optimism for the team’s chances in the upcoming final.

Mrs Tinubu lauded the Super Falcons, describing their performance as a powerful testament to the ‘strength, courage, and brilliance of Nigerian women.’

She highlighted the team’s passion, discipline, and unity on the field as an inspiring example for young girls nationwide, demonstrating that ‘nothing good is beyond reach.’

Mrs Tinubu emphasised that the semi-final win is more than just a ticket to the final; it serves as ‘a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we believe in ourselves and stand together.’

She expressed anticipation for the team to lift the trophy, praying for a strong finish under ‘Mission X.’

Echoing the sentiments of national pride, Atiku also congratulated the Super Falcons on their crucial win.

“Congratulations to our Super Falcons on their 2-1 victory over South Africa to reach the WAFCON final”, Abubakar stated.

He affirmed unwavering support for the team as they prepare for the ultimate showdown, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve overall victory in the championship.

The Super Falcons now advance to the WAFCON final, aiming to secure another continental title for Nigeria.

They’ll face the host, Morocco.
