Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has clarified his stance on several political issues. Wike denied rumors of challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, affirming his loyalty to the administration. He emphasized that he wouldn’t contest against someone he’s serving, expressing support for Tinubu’s leadership.
Regarding the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) potential zoning of the presidential ticket to the South, Wike adopted a cautious approach. He stated, “Let them zone first. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it,” indicating that he will wait for the PDP’s decision before taking any further action.

Wike also addressed the political crisis in Rivers State, attributing it to external forces manipulating Governor Siminalayi Fubara. He vowed to counter these forces until they’re neutralized, describing Fubara as “my boy, my son.” This statement suggests that Wike believes external actors are fueling the crisis and that he will take steps to address the issue.
Wike’s statements aim to quell speculation about his political ambitions and the Rivers State crisis. By affirming his loyalty to Tinubu’s administration and denying interest in challenging him, Wike seeks to maintain stability within the political landscape. His comments on the Rivers State crisis indicate his determination to address the issue and protect his interests.
