Ogoni-Born Police Officer Promoted to Commissioner in Nigeria

A senior police officer from Nigeria’s Ogoni region, Barr. Felix Nnebue, has been promoted to commissioner of police, the Nigerian Police Force announced. The decoration ceremony is set for the Force Headquarters in Abuja, though a date has not been specified.

Nnebue, a lawyer by training, hails from Kpite in Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State. His promotion highlights his years of service and legal expertise, marking a significant achievement for the rural community known for its Ogoni heritage.

The Nigerian Police Force has not released details about Nnebue’s new assignment. The ceremony is expected to draw top police officials and community leaders from Rivers State.

Nnebue’s rise to one of the force’s highest ranks is seen as an inspiration in Kpite, where residents rely on farming and fishing amid limited infrastructure. His background as a barrister sets him apart in a role that demands both law enforcement and legal acumen.
