As Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide celebrates late Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro’s Day, the people of Niger Delta has been called upon to awaken their consciousness to the purpose of the death of the their National hero.

President of the Ijaw Youth Council World wide, Timothy Igbifa, who made the call while marking the Day, said late Isaac Boro fought a good fight for the betterment of the Niger Delta’s.

He, however, urged all the ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, to always bear in mind that late Boro did not just die for only the Ijaw nation, but the entire people of the region and should not be ignored.

“Today is a remarkable day and one that is historic because this is the year we as Council deliberately seized the opportunity to reexamine ourselves of the purpose of his death.

“We will not hesitate to say that he died for Niger Delta’s, he did not declare Ijaw nation, he declared Niger Delta Republic and that is what he died for. This is the very reason we want to tell our people who feel the pain the most, the people of Ijaw nation not to be discouraged or deterred, despite how it seems to appear that Boro died for himself and the Ijaw nation.

“It’s very painful because the death he died for the entire Niger Delta seems to be ignored by so many other ethnic groups in the region and they have pushed it down as a personal business of the Ijaw people, this is extremely criminal in nature.

“I want to speak to the conscience of all the Niger Deltans that Boro refused to go for himself, he did not for only the Ijaw people, what a strong decision to Carry every body in the region along. This is the spirit of the average Ijaw man”.

Igbifa further said that it will be a befitting gift in honour of late Isaac Boro deaths, if political parties in Rivers State will come together and produce a Riverine Governor, particularly in Rivers and Delta state.
