The family of slain Victor Amasi on Tuesday hastily buried the deceased following threats by the police to deposit the corpse in the morgue.

Victor Amasi was shot dead on Monday during the Onne youth election in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Onne Coordinator of the Niger Delta Youth Movement said the victim was killed shortly after the committee that was conducting the election cancelled the poll which threw the exercise into a rowdy session.

The elder sibling of the deceased, Agereshon Amasi who confirmed the laying to test of the Victim to our correspondent, attributed the haste to the threat by the police to deposit the corpse in the mortuary.

He said, “how can we allow the same police who have denied knowledge of who killed my brother to deposit him in the mortuary?

“What we did this morning was to call the church to assist in burying him which we have done.

“Since the police told us that other security agencies were also there at the election venue and that they (the police) don’t know who shot my brother, we have decided to leave it in the hands of God.”
