It was learnt that the suspect allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old girl, and kept her in his custody for over 3 weeks.

Guardian to the girl, identified as Queeneth Ukwuegbu had disclosed that they have been in search of the victim for weeks, noting that the suspect is a customer of hers.

She said she had alerted the local vigilante after the victim reached her on phone, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Ukwuegbu said the victim had told her that two men had taken a carnal knowledge of her while she was with the suspect.

However, the suspect, who spoke to newsmen said he took the “girl to his house for safety” after he picked her around Obirikwere Bridge in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Meanwhile, the leader of the local vigilante group, Henry Nyebuchi said the man has been handed over to the police for further investigation.

According to him, “This is a clear case of abduction, conspiracy and rape because the girl admitted that some people raped her,” adding that the suspect should have taken the girl to a police station after he found her as he claimed.
