In bid to fight crime and insecurity in some Ogoni communities, the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu, has approved the setting up a Divisional Police Station in Zaakpon Community, in Khana local government area of the state.

The siting of the new police station follows the request made by Zaakpon people, over the constant attacks and killing of people of the area .

Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of Zaakpon Police station, Bori Divisional Police Officer, Bako Angbahim, said the creation of the new station by the Nigerian Police will help to bring security breakthrough in the area as it is a dead zone for criminal activities such as, kidnapping, cultism and killings.

DPO Angbahim stressed that it is also an effort by the Nigerian police in collaboration with Zaakpon stakeholders to sustain security and peace in the area, adding that Khana is too large to have just one Divisional Police station.

He noted that Zaakpon route was unpassable before he was transferred to the Bori division in September 2019, adding that he was able to initiate some proactive security measures which helped to chase away the hoodlums from their constant ambushing and kidnapping of people.

He however affirmed that establishing a police station in Zaakpon will curb the security challenges faced by the people and also help to restore peace in Khana local government area.

On his part, Chief Gani Topba who spoke on behalf of Zaakpon people, thanked the Inspector General of Police for agreeing to approve the new divisional police station in Zaakpon which will oversee other communities in Khana.

According to him, the police station is a community based effort targeted at helping to restore calmness and secure lives and property of the Zaakpon and Babee Kingdom at large.
