Protests loom over inability of police to release autopsy report of late Chima Ikwunado

The coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command to avail them of the Autopsy report carried out on the remains of the late Ikoku Mechanic, Chima Ikwunado.

Dr Cornell Chukwuegbo, pathologist for Chima’s family said the autopsy report was not for public consumption and has been submitted to the Commissioner of Police, Mustapha DanDaura.

According to him, autopsy reports are not made public except through the appropriate channels.

But the chairman of RIVSCO, Enefaa Georgewill, vowed to lead massive protests against the police if the autopsy report is not made available to the family of the late mechanic and other concerned stakeholders within 48 hours.

“We have applied for the Autopsy report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, and Of course to Commissioner of Police, Rivers State.

“It’s our belief that in the next 48 hours the Autopsy should be available. But if they fail, we have no choice but to call them out”.

Meanwhile, Chief Anthony Iwu Alaribeole, the Chairman of Ikokwu Motor spare parts dealers has vowed threatened that if by today, Wednesday, February 26, the result of the Autopsy is not released, the traders will shut down the business.
