Police in Rivers State has rearrested a popular real estate developer, Kelly Worgu who jumped bail three weeks ago.

The police also released three others who signed bail bonds for the real estate developer.

Worgu was initially arrested after residents who invested in his real estate scheme reported him to the police.

They said that despite making financial commitments to his scheme, he failed on so many occasions to allocate lands they paid for to them.

Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officers said Nworgu submitted himself few days after police began combing for him due to pressure from his victims.

Omoni explained further that Nworgu has been put in detention while those who stood bail for him have been released.

Earlier, some of the petitioners including senior citizens said that they invested in the scheme as a means of owning properties to build their retirement homes in the city.

Mrs Eva Brown said: “I paid two million forty thousand for two plots at the rate of one million twenty thousand per plot since August 2018.

“One year after my purchase, I am yet to get any plot allocated to me. It’s been come today or tomorrow, I just want a refund since I cannot get the land I paid for”

Others who brought evidence of payment for one and more plots of land at same APO LAYOUT IN OMAGWA said they have been trying to get possession of their properties.

“since after the instalments payment but to no avail. Each time they allocate land to us and you put pillars or beacon to demarcate the land, if come the next day, you discover that someone else has already removed your beacon and when you go to them they will tell you sorry that they will allocate you another place, but we don’t want another place but a refund of our monies”
