MOSOP chieftain abducted by gunmen.

Anthony Porole, the Secretary-General of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), has been kidnapped.

Mr Porole was abducted from his compound in his Biara-Ogoni hometown of Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers on Friday, 28th June.

It was gathered that unidentified gunmen invaded his home at about 8: 30 pm, shooting sporadically before whisking him away to an unknown location.

MOSOP, on Saturday, through its Publicity Secretary, Sunny Zorvah, said that members of the organisation were saddened over the kidnap.

He also called for the immediate and unconditional release of the chieftain.

According to him: ‘MOSOP also calls on the security agencies to be on the trail of the kidnappers and ensure their immediate arrest.”

“It is callous and undeserving that a man who has committed his life in serving his people will be treated in this manner.

“Enough is enough of this criminal, uncivilised, barbaric and retrogressive act.”
