Former Rivers lawmaker linked to killings in Emohua during March 9 guber election

A former lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd, has been linked to the killings in Emuoha local government area during the 9th March 2019 governorship election

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ward 12 chairman in Ubimini, Emuoha, Onyekachi Oji, stated this while testifying before the commission of inquiry set up to investigate the killings, violence and other related acts, matters which occurred during the February 23rd and March 9th election in Rivers State.

According to him, on the morning of 8th March, some thugs whom he identified to be working for Chidi Lloyd barricaded the major road leading to Ubimini and attacked and killed his brother Chiwendu Oji and Joshua Silas who were Party agents of PDP for the election.

He said before the 9th March election, Chidi Lloyd, had approached him and requested he returns to the All Progressive Congress APC party together with his boys, stressing that he refused him and Chidi Lloyd threatened that PDP will never take over Ishimba in Emuoha.

Also, PDP Collation Agent for Khana local government, Thomas Bariere, testified that during the February 23rd election in Khana, men of the Nigerian Army invaded Ward 16 and vandalized vehicles and personal property belonging to Webari Marcus, a PDP Chieftain, adding that similar incident also occurred in Ward 11.

He also confirmed the invasion of the Commander of F-SARS, Akin Fakorede, alongside Bori Divisional Police Officer, Bariledum Gregory Nwidam and Eric Nwibani, during the March 9th election which led to the death of Ferry Gberegbere and some others who sustained gunshot wounds.

On his part, INEC Adhoc staff for the 9th March election in Khana local government, Marvin Lezor Kpea-ue who is a victim of the sporadic gunshot, witnessed that he was shot on the right leg by officers of F-SARS while discharging his duty at the INEC RAC Center Bori.

The panel of inquiry will continue it’s sitting on Monday 13th May 2019.
