The King of Idu Community in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Amb) Uche A. Emejuru, has said that he blessed the royal stool of King Michael Ateke Tom, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Town.

Eze Uche Emejuru revealed this during a chat with TPCN today in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.

Eze Emejuru, who is the Eze Ekwu Onuka Oha 1 of Idu Ogba, described King Ateke Tom as his friend, adding that he was invited to bless the stool during its inauguration.

On his relationship with his people, Eze Emejuru said that it was his community that selected him and made him their King and that his people are behind him. He described Idu as a very unique and peaceful, progressive community.

He said: “By the special grace of God, my community is behind me. My community made me king. Idu as a community is unique, although we’re in Usomini. We’re unique because we’re the only community that has two oil companies –Agip and Total- operating fully in it as their base.”

On the state of affairs in his community and some of his achievements, the Idu monarch said there is peace in his community as people now go about freely for their businesses without fear of molestation.

He said he had succeeded in ridding the community of cultism while also reviving their culture and tradition, as a result of which their children now speak their language unlike before when the language of cultism was the order of the day.

Eze Emejuru added that they now celebrate their annual traditional festival known as ‘Igba Ogwe,’ as part of the gains of the cultural revival.

I’ve set a precedence and will like to be remembered by that. I’ve revived my people’s tradition and culture. We’ve eradicated cultism from the community,” he said.
