Stakeholders from the Niger Delta region have accused Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Obo Effanga of rewriting the March 9 governorship election results in Government House, Port Harcourt.

The stakeholders under the auspices of Coalition of Rivers NGOs on Rivers 2019 governorship election insisted that they would resist and challenge the governorship election result in the state if declared under the watch of Mr Effanga.

At a press conference held Monday in Port Harcourt, Spokesman for the coalition Hon Eferebo Godson through a statement read on behalf of the group said, “the suspension of the election process was well orchestrated by Wike and Effanga to rig the poll.”

The statement reads in part,” INEC’s refusal to publish names of the acclaimed collated 17 LGAs and the outstanding six LGAs is a clear act of deceit.

“We have it on record that governor Wike through Effanga secretly changed the last collation and returning officers who conducted the presidential election and replaced them with card-carrying members of PDP.”

The group, therefore, called on security agencies to arrest the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Effanga over his alleged criminal conspiracy with Wike to rig the governorship election in favour of the incumbent.

Also speaking, a prominent leader of the region, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe warned the state INEC leadership to desist from partisanship in order not to cause crisis in the state.
