Nigerian Institute of Management plans end of year seminar in Port Harcourt.

The Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, Rivers State branch says it will hold an End of Year Lecture/Dinner in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 13th December 2018.

The Lecture with the theme: Hidden Treasures and Economic Development of Rivers State, will assemble financial experts and economists to brainstorm on ways of diversifying the economy of Rivers State away from oil and gas.

The Chairman, programmes committee of the Lecture/Dinner 2018, Abu Christian Ukeame said the Institute of Management will issue a roadmap for a secured future for Rivers State after the seminar.

Abu Christian said that the state has many untapped resources that will boost the revenue of Rivers State when tapped and harnessed.

He said the state will depend less on the monthly federal allocations when its economy diversifies away from oil and gas.

Abu Christian noted that renowned economist Professor Okechukwu Onuchukwu, the Director of University of Port Harcourt Business School will be the lead speaker at the event.

He added that the event is part of ways the Institute is contributing to the economic development of Rivers State adding that the programme is open for non-members of Nigerian Institute of Management.

The Chairman of the programme committee also revealed that the event is divided into two stages, which is the seminar which starts at 4 pm and the dinner, which begins by 6 pm.

Our correspondent reports that the Governor Rivers State, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike will be the Special Guest of Honour while former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia will chair the programme.
